Unity Dinner Recap

Democrat House 7 Unity Dinner
Get on the success train

House Seven Democrats hosted its Second Annual Unity Dinner at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Sunday, June 26, 2009 with a VIP reception followed by a scrumptious dinner. Our guest speaker for the momentous occasion was the Honorable Andrew Romanoff, formerly Speaker of the House of Representatives for the State of Colorado.
The far northeast Denver communities were embraced with the presence of our secretary of state, Honorable Bernie Buescher. Other elected officials attending this event were City Councilmembers Doug Linkhart, Carol Boigon, and Marcia Johnson, as well as RTD Board Member Christopher Martinez and Senator Michael Johnston. Regrets were sent from City Councilman Michael Hancock and the Mayor of Denver, John Hickenlooper.
The audience was entertained with delightful music by the young Democrats, The Scott Boys and The Vince J. Project band. Everyone was made aware of the unity train, so that they would be ready to step on board and enjoy the ride for the evening. Everyone Aboard? This was a non-stop train to Success City, Colorado. As we journeyed to our destination, the voices of unity spoke declaring that inclusivity of Democrats must prevail, if we are to reach our destination, which is Success City, Colorado. The voices emphasized that we must reach out to get everyone involved in our neighborhood, in our state and across the nation. Where there is strength, we together can move mountains and conquer the impossible.
As the unity train moved along with soothing music, there were hilarious moments, silent moments, and moments you could feel the energy floating all around you. This energy developed into strength and integrity, which brings about change when united. This energy will break down the wall of closeness and create a city, state, and a county of love and justice. As the unity train made its way through the various communities and cities, you could hear the unity train screech at each stop. You could hear the voices saying, "Is that the Unity Train? I heard about this. I want to get on and get involved. Welcome aboard," the conductor said, "Everyone is welcome to get on this train and you can choose what you would like to do. We are bound for Success City, Colorado. If you would like some refreshments, help yourself to our energy, integrity, love and justice. Thank you, sounds like pretty good stuff to me."
As night begins to age, passengers on the train snuggled in their seats and slept peacefully as they continued their journey on the unity train. There is no doubt in my mind that if we stay on the unity train, where there is unity, love, justice and integrity, we will all arrive at our destination - Success City, Colorado - at the same time. "Wake up, Wake up, we are here," says the conductor. All exclaimed, "what a successful journey."
The Far Northeast DIA Communities would like to thank the Honorable Andrew Romanoff for accepting the invitation from the Unity Committee to be the keynote speaker for the Unity Dinner. Your speech was eloquent and informational. May God bless you in your endeavors.
Our many thanks and accolades to our communities of the Far Northeast DIA area who, without their support, the Unity Dinner would not have been a success. Thanks to all the committees who worked diligently to keep the train moving smoothly. Thanks Ms. Harris, for her creativity to making the setting for this occasion simply beautiful. Special Thanks to Ms. Brenda Ennis from House District 9 Democrats, who served as our consultant for this event. The Unity committee appreciates you for your guidance and for keeping us on task. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge Mrs. Mary Sam, our Program Designer and our technology consultant. Thanks for your support. You have always been by my side with encouraging words and willing hands.
